kidlizard
Do any of you pre-pour your vien material? More specifically pour a large flat sheet and cut it into viens to be added into hot plastic as you pour? If so what are the results??? Thanks John
alsworms
Hey John, It seems to me that it would take a lot longer doing that. I think your quality would suffer because the layers might look separated, and you could never get a split vein. I guess it might work if you could figure out a way to work quickly......lay down your first layer, place the vein, then lay over the top. Of course, then you have to worry about placing a vein on scolding hot plastic. You'd have to use a tool for that to keep from burning yourself. Seems awfully time consuming. woodsac
Seems awfully time consuming On the $$$ Chris! I tried this when I first started pouring. What a pain! And I gave it several go-rounds. It's just not worth the time or the trouble in my opinion. And it definitely doesn't have as clean of an appearance. Veins are time consuming (when you're not a pro) but they get easier and faster everytime you do them.
kidlizard
Woodsac, I knew I remember someone talking about this before. I was thinking the same as both of you with the time consuming part. However I cant get the results that I see in Als baits so I thought this might work. Guess I just need more practice. Al, You have without a doubt the best colors of any handpours I have seen. Guess thats why so many people come to you for advice... Thanks guys, John
Richoc
What about shooting it out of a modified hot glue gun?
woodsac
The glue gun thing is way too messy for me! And it takes me longer to pick up a glue gun and squirt a couple lines then it does to grab a cup and pour.
alsworms
Ditto Woodsac. Man that glue gun is about the worthless thing I've tried yet. So far, nothing I've tried beats just pouring the darn things. John......thanks for the kind words. I figure if I keep just one or two fellas from making the same mistakes I did, then it's worth it for me. Chris
charkins
Glue gun or the gun that Lure Craft sells is worthless. The only way to do it is practice, practice, practice. On another note, Chris I too believe that you have the best veins and combo colors that I have ever seen. Now, how about sharing that Mississippi Mud crawfish color? alsworms
Well Cal......I wish all colors were as easy as Miss. Mud..... Chocolate Brown with green hi-lite; lots of medium black flake I can't really give the recipe because I don't use one. I just make sure the brown is very dark with a green swirl mixed in. earthworm77
Guys, Chris is without a doubt one of the most skilled hand pourers I know of and I've been using hand poured baits for a long, long time. A good al around guy who can make just about anything.
