Thomas1996
Hey everyone I'm new to making my own lures I've done some hand pouring with plaster of Paris molds I made at home but decided that I would try an aluminum injection mold for a craw body soft plastic bait. Recommendations would be appreciated if you like a specific craw mold.

Thomas1996
Thanks for the reply. The 702 craw looks like the Yum F2 craw papi. I will keep that mold in mind. I also like the 720 craw is that one worth looking into?
mark poulson
I don't have either mold, but, from the pictures, the 702 claws look bigger, and mount more on the side of the bait, which should make for better swimming action. Bassinfool
That 720 looks like a chigger craw body with the 702 flappers. I don't have that mold but I do have the 702 and I really like it.
Saugerman
702 craw from Bass Tackle is hard to beat ,It is my favorite craw hands down. It not only shoots great , it flat out catches fish, great action.
rgm
been pouring the 702 over the holidays. Awesome bait to pour. I also have the claw mold and it pours awesome also. Put the bait in the tank as a jig, shakey head and as a trailer - awesome action, best i have seen in a craw......can't wait til spring!!!!!!
Thomas1996
I just ordered the 702 craw with an injection starter kit. I can't wait to get it! Do Berkley chigger craws work? If they do then I wouldn't mind getting that mold either if its worth it.
Bassinfool
The chigger craw and the one from bass tackle differ in the action of the claws. Because of the claw design on the 702 you get a lot of action and it produces a nice little thump thump thump as it comes through the water. The actual Berkley chigger craw doesn't have this same design and is just a flat claw and is more subtle with a thicker, square body. I personally don't see a reason to have both as the 702 is such a fantastic mold but if it is something you would like then by all means purchase it. Thomas1996
Okay thank you, I will just stick with the 702 craw then.
MonteSS
Another 702 vote. Best craw made.
Baitjunkys
702 is a fine bait, The multi cavity is finiky to pour consistent good baits, It can be done, Just not by injecting it normally. CCm mad dads have great action as well, and are a fair bit easier to pour consistent. 702 singles likely will shoot with ease as well. Thomas1996
I ordered a single cavity 702 craw. Mad dads didn't look to bad I like the 3xl version.
Bassinfool
The 702 can be tricky sometimes, it took me doing a little experimentation with temp of the plastic, how fast I inject and how long I hold pressure before I figured out how to get a good consistent bait each time. Thomas1996
Hmmm I guess I'll experiment too lol
MonteSS
I found the 702 in multy cavity (2 or 4) shoot great and near perfect every time.
rgm
I have been using the double cavity 702 for a few days now. temp between 330 - 350 and it pours very well and very consistent baits. Was loking at ordering the four cavity mold. Does anyone have any experience with this mold?
Frank
I have had the four cavitys ones for years and just changed to two cavity ones. Sounds funny but two things were bugging me about the fours. One is you have to top off if the temp are a little hot or the top baits draw air in the tails. Not because the craw design but the sprue is so big it sucks down below the top cavitys. Second is there is more waste from laminates due to a very long sprue. Two cavity molds don't need topping off and less waste.
