capt mike
All of my soft swimbait molds have recessed eye sockets just like the ones at lurecraft. How do you guys attach your lure eyes after they are poured?
bass100
I use super glue and then dip in clear plastic.

capt mike
I've been doing the same but the clear peels off.
nova
Place a little clear plastic in the eye holes of the mold. Then; before it cools too much press the eye into the hole. make sure that the clear is showing all around the eye. Then just pour your bait. The clear will melt into the main bait and cover the eye. Works best with a hot mold and it takes a little practice.
gone2long
Mike your dipping and your plastic is peeling off the bait? how far do you dip the bait too? I've done it nova's way and it works good but I also dip to the furthest point that I can without affecting the action such as the base of the tail or a joint/segment in the bait doesn't seem to affect action that way. Maybe a pic will help diagnose the issue.
bass100
Alot of times the bait can be a little oily from an excess of cooked in scent, heat stabilizer, or even softner. Simply wipe the bait down with denatured alcohol and it should stick fine.

capt mike
Place a little clear plastic in the eye holes of the mold. Works best with a hot mold and it takes a little practice. The eye sockets are already built into the mold. I would need reverse eye sockets for that to work. Another words, the master blank had open sockets, so the inside of the mold has two protruding studs so that the poured bait will have the same eye sockets ready to accept eyes. Next time, maybe I will make a master with the eyes in it. Then I can do what you suggest. Thats a good idea. Gotta work. Thanks for the idea.
