I.M.O. and experience- the weedguard collars/channels are not long enough to protect the hook in submerged ,heavy brush and horizontal laydowns. The slots are fine, they aren't meant to be cast with the weedguard in place, only the pin and he makes his own short pin, less material. Then when the jig is cast the weedguards extend beyond the hook point. I mold in my fiber guards when casting the lead. Thanks for pointing out the fact this is a glue- in fibrer guard mold.
