Snapping necks
Has anyone tried the seal coat from Component Systems that LPO is selling. I see that a lot of people use D2T but was just wondering because it seems to be fairly cheap and I'm new to the lure making and poor so need something fairly inexpensive. BobP
Check out this post: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/topic/14794-component-systems-seal-coat/ The problem is that the NEW Seal Coat is supposed to be new and different from the old, whatever that was. I think you'll have to try it and find out for yourself. JMHO - compared to the prices in LPO, I think epoxy is pretty cheap if you consider the respective volumes involved. Probably the most cost-efficient sealer and topcoat I know about is Solarez UV cured polyester resin, which sells for around $25/quart. I think the best sealer/topcoat depends on what specifically you plan to topcoat and how it will be fished. I don't like epoxy on spoons, jigs or wire baits, especially ones with sharp edges. But epoxy is probably the best topcoat there is for a wood crankbait used for trolling. I understand cost is always a consideration but when you get down to it, the cost of all the components for any type of lure is a small fraction of what you would pay for its commercial version. Snapping necks
Thanks for the info I appreciate it. I just got into musky fishing and have started to make some baits for that. Durability is a definite factor. I've learned a lot from everyone on tackleunderground and wish I would have joined a long time ago. Thanks again.
