ING
Guys, what threads are you using for trailer hooks, jigs and bucktails? Thank you
toadfrog
I use rod winding thread 3/0 or ( E I believe) for jigs 1/4 ounce and up then epoxy coat the threads .
smalljaw
you can use anything from 140 denier and up, I prefer 210 and I use Danville flat waxed nylon and UTC Ultra thread.
mark poulson
You can use any thread that won't break while you're winding it, as long as you coat the thread afterwards with either super glue, or some other kind of strong thread sealer. I've used old braid, and it works, too.

Darkman
I use Coats and Clarks upholstery thread. I ties Jigs, feather trebles, buck tails, and even a few float n flies with it. I can pull it tight and it wont break, use a little SH hard as nails or crazy glue and your set to go. Im self taught so I needed a line that I could buy and find easy and I could get this at any Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, Michaels or any place that sells Sewing materials and it inexpensive and I get over 1000 yard to boot...hope this helps
BLT
I get my nylon thread from "the thread exchange" online. Size 15 and 33 for the larger jigs. You do not need to put a death grip on the thread while tying. they have Kevlar thread there also. Like someone posted, you can use anything that you can tie with and not break while doing it. Coat when done. Tying to tight makes the hair flair out to much when using the more coarse hair at the bottom of the tail.
Perk
I just started tying my own buck tails and was wondering if there was a guide for how long they should be or is it whatever looks good. Mine seem kinda long but I didn't know if longer was better or keep them short. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks You should start a new thread because asking a different question under someone else's inquiry is what is know as "hijacking" a thread. I'll be happy to help you but start a new topic. ING
Thank everybody for help! Before I used any thread what I had and found that not all of them suit well. I decide to start from Danville Flat Waxes Nylon 240 and buy some on the e-bay. Thanks again Edited January 21, 2014 by ING
