cintaskevin
Hi guys/gals, I'm looking for the closest thing to the 3" and 4" Keitech Fat Impact swimbait. Basstackle has a few that look similar but I wanted to ask anyone that has their #631 mold how close is it to the original Keitech? Thanks in advance! creekbeater
Hi guys/gals, I'm looking for the closest thing to the 3" and 4" Keitech Fat Impact swimbait. Basstackle has a few that look similar but I wanted to ask anyone that has their #631 mold how close is it to the original Keitech? Thanks in advance! I have both the 631 and the 643 single cavity molds. They are very similar in size to the 3.8 and 2.8 kaitechs. They do not have the hook slots on top and bottom and the paddle tail is slightly smaller. They produce very good action and I've caught a lot of smallmouth on them. It's Much better than paying $0.75 to $1 per bait and I can make them to last a lot longer. The only downside is that I like the laminates but I'm unwilling to spend the $180 for a twin injector. I can pour, remove cut and reinfect to get something close, but it takes a lot of time. Hope that helps and good luck.
bracken
Who would make us a mold that uses laminate plates? I would probably be willing to do that. I don't sell baits, just make them for personal use.
Apdriver
If the orientation is right, you can hand pour your bellies, close the mold, then shoot your top color. There is another solution too.
bracken
What is the other solution?
Apdriver
What is the other solution? Make your own laminate plate. Here's a very good discussion on it here. http://custombaits.com/index.php?topic=4940.
Frank
The mold is not oriented right for a laminate plate. I know Kevin has made a production mold for this bait that is oriented right but those are big bucks. Much easier to get the Twinjector and do laminates all you want. Most of his swim bait mold can be bought to laminate correctly.
