smalljaw
You can just get some rubber skirt collars and slide them over the "R" bend, now the eye is closed and you can use a snap.
Saugerman
Quality pair of round nose pliers. The very cheap models are not tight enough, and can cause the wire to slip out. Plus the teeth ware out fast.
Ccfish
I use the wire bender to start the turn, put on the swivel and blade then just pinch it closed the rest of the way with pliers.

flippinfool
Do nesting pliers slip less than round nose pliers? Musky Glenn Nesting pliers grab the wire and don't slip like round nose.
big ger
Nesting pliers grab the wire and don't slip like round nose. Would those work when bending .051 or maybe .062 wire? They look like they were meant for jewlry work and as such wouldn't be too heavy duty.

toadfrog
.062 wire dang that is almost a bycycle spoke .
mark poulson
When you're buying pliers or cutters, the longer the handle, the better, within reason. Lots more leverage.
big ger
.062 wire dang that is almost a bycycle spoke . Yeah, I use those on big bucktails. I've found the heavy duty Knipex to do the job, however if don't have a "death grip" on them they will slip.
