mark poulson
I want to make a modified two part Arkie head jig mold using bondo, and I'm wondering what I should use on the first half as a release agent so the second part doesn't bond to it when I put it over the first part. For soft plastic molds, I use spray PAM. Will that work with bondo?
bassfanpa
I use automotive belt dressing, I seem to always have a can laying around. Works fine for me. I'm sure there are plenty of other sprays you can use as well.
Glaucus
I've had great results with Aerowax. Home Depot might have something similar: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/topic/27381-best-material-for-making-lead-casting-mold/ When your mold is finished, give it a good scrubbing with Ajax, Comet, etc, to remove any leftover wax. Pour a few test casting as well to burn off any other residue. If the casting looks good, then all is well, BUT if the casting looks blistered, bubbled, etc or otherwise imperfect, then you will need to coat the mold cavity with a refractory coating. I use 'Rapine Mould Prep' from Dixie Gun Works. Other members here use Frankford Arsenal Drop Out.
Vodkaman
I use floor tile wax, purely as I had it in the house. Worked very well. Looks similar to post No3. Dave
mark poulson
Thanks. I think I've got enough info to get started now. I never get tired of watching ING's video.
