OsageJoe
Sometimes when I shoot a white coat of primer, when I'm finished I get alittle on the bill under the tape. It seems like it's always a b#**h toget off. Acetone clouds the bill. Is there an easy way to clean this?
RayburnGuy
The only type of solvent I've used so far that doesn't harm the Lexan in some way is Oops. I've been using it a good while now and have been really pleased with it. It doesn't leave a residue or have an unpleasant smell. To clean my lips I wet the end of a Q-tip and scrub away. The Q-tip makes it easy to get in tight spots and you will bend the stem before you apply enough pressure to scratch the Lexan. Another thing I do is wait until I have applied the top coat before cleaning the lip. That way if the Q-tip comes in contact with the body of the lure it doesn't jack up the paint job. Ebay has it at the link below or I'm sure you can find it online by searching. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313&_nkw=oops+cleaner&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Ben

RayburnGuy
It just dawned on me that you might be talking about the lips on repaints or plastic knock off baits. I started out doing mostly repaints, but now build pretty much all my own lures and use Lexan for the lips. The lips on repaints and clear plastic knock offs are not Lexan so I would test a small area before trying to clean the entire lip. I don't think Oops will harm this type of plastic, but it's always better to be on the safe side. OsageJoe
it clouded it. I figured that when i saw the acetone in ingredients. No harm, denatured alcohol seems to work okay. Thanks for the help. Joe

Thanks for the help. Joe They must have changed the formula because the Oops I have has no acetone in it. The ingredients in the can I have are Ethyl Alcohol, VM&P Naptha, Xylene, and Monochloro Toluene. I didn't think to check the ingredients on the link I sent you. Hope I didn't cause you to screw up any baits. Ben p.s. Just went and checked the ingredients online and while one of the ingredients has changed the stuff I looked at did not have acetone in it. Not sure what happened. Edited February 16, 2014 by RayburnGuy

RayburnGuy
No wonder it give me such a terrible hangover! You should try orange juice and acetone. It's much smoother than Oops.

RayburnGuy
I'm almost out of the Oops that I have. Will most likely have to email them to see what's changed in their cleaner. I sure hope they've still got a version like what I have. If they do I'll holler back at you. Ben

RayburnGuy
Hey Joe, Which Oops cleaner did you get and was it spray, liquid or what? Also what size was it? I've got to contact them anyway and I just wanted to be sure whether there's a difference in any of the products they offer. thanks, Ben
