Ccfish
I use vinyl paint to paint the eyes on my swim jigs and spinnerbaits. The red paint thickened up on me in the jar. Is there a quick fix for this? I know i can order the vinyl paint thinner but just seeing if theres another way. Thanks
toadfrog
Acetone . Will thin almost anything . I use lots of vinyl . Never bought the thinner since the paint first hit the market . If you ever try to spray the stuff remember to keep your air brush close to the product . It spider webs bad given to much distance . smallmouthaholic
Acetone or Methel Ethel Keytone (M.E.K.) Acetone has a faster evaporation rate. Maybe you may wish to consider dotting your eyes w/ different diameter paint brush stems- still using the vinyl paints. Edited to add: your paint is spider webbing becuase it's too thick. I sprayed C.S. vinyl for almost 10 years. Edited March 9, 2014 by smallmouthaholic
Ccfish
Thanks guys. Gonna pickup some acetone tommorow. Yep thats what I do. I use a cut paint brush tip for the red part of the eye and a toothpick for the smaller black part. The paint wasnt spreading when i would dot the eye and was stringy when i would pull back. The paint has to be thinned-even when you're dotting eyes. I used to pour just enough to cover the inverted lid of a 1 oz. jar, then place it on an angle.1 dip w/ the paint brush stem should dot 2-4 eyes before dipping is required again.Too thin and the eye dot runs, too thick and it's stringy as you have experienced. These 3 color eyes were accomplished using vinyl paint and different paint brush stem diameters http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e133/smallmouthaholic/counter_rotating_blade_buzzbaits_zps781dc611.jpg Edited March 11, 2014 by smallmouthaholic
