Mudd Butt Baits
That was not to bad. I did a batch just to see how they would turn out. I found that one half or the other was hollow? It was different in each one. I did get a few that were solid all the way through. Do you know what would cause this? I then did a batch with micro bubbles, with mask. I did what they say to do, 1 table spoon to 4oz of plastic, did not work, then I did a batch with 2 table spoons to 6oz, did not work. So then I tried 3 table spoons to 6oz and agin this did not float the bait and hook? The bait turned out really nice now I need a floating compound. Baitjunkys
Looks like there is no real runner to the gate. Its sucking air way faster than you could ever fill the sprue, It looks like anyway.
MonteSS
Ya. Gate looks way too thin. Probably cloging before that big bait can suck in more plastic Try just one or two cavities for now and hold pressure 15 secs on each You need alot of microbubbles and if you overheat them, they pop. They make the plastic very hard so alot of softener is needed and baits get very fragile. I know you are searching because there has to be a better way. Wonder what Yum uses in the Money Dog or whatever it is called. Edited March 18, 2014 by MonteSS
Mudd Butt Baits
The plastic needed to float a bait is called Cyberflex, but we can't get it. Have to be EPA regulated and a bunch of hoops to just use the stuff. Is there a diagram that will show all the part names of the mold? I am guessing that the gate is the fill hole, and the spur is the main body? The fill hole tube is 5/
Mudd Butt Baits
just got off the phone, the bubbles will not pop even if the plastic is burnt. There are using one dixie cup to a pyrtex full of plastic. I was thinking of making a mixing box that I could mix under so I felt a little more safe? Fish_N_Fool
Are you pouring it or injecting it? If you are trying to pour it, it would never fill. What see is your sprue hole is too long and too small. Drill it out with a 1/2" bit or so to within a 1/8 of the bait. To pour a bait you need a sprue that is much bigger then a injected bait so it will hold more hot plastic and not cool off so fast. If you are not injecting I would open up all the tops of the sprues to from a trough to pour in. The more hot plastic you can get above the baits the better they will fill. If you are injecting the mold just opeing up the sprue hole as stated above should do the trick.
Fish_N_Fool
Here is what I mean so you can understans the parts of a mold I didn't say it but the pard of the mold in grey under the gate would be your bait. This is not really to scale just an idea that i mean. Edited March 22, 2014 by Fish_N_Fool
mark poulson
Funny, I had the same problem with a two piece POP 7" worm mold I made. I wound up making a reservoir by wrapping duct tape around the top of the mold and overpouring as I injected, so I would have enough hot plastic to keep the worms from denting or having air pockets. After the plastic cooled, I'd cut the duct tape at the sides where the two piece mold joined, and demold. The sprue would usually stick to one side of the duct tape, and was easy to remove, and reuse. But the duct tape had to be replaced after each pour. It was a PITA, and I don't pour that mold much anymore. If I weren't so lazy, I'd just make a reservoir top out of wood that sat around the top and was removable. Mudd Butt Baits
I do use an injector, 6oz. I found out by someone on here that if I keep pressure on the push for a few seconds that the bait will fill up. I had good luck with making the spur and gate 3/16" now my throw is very short to fill the mold and I can get through the 7 cavities quicker. I fill the top of the mold with rubber just in case. I have a cheap pot and the heat gun is showing 325-330 for a high heat, do I want it up around the 350 mark or it this ok? Thanks guys

Mudd Butt Baits
I have been looking for the pot with no luck? Someone has them I am sure just have to find them. The mold has really nice air vents. The plastic seems to be pouring really well now with the larger fill hole. I will be buying a 5 gallon plastic and bubbles monday. How much oil should I be adding to the plastic?
Mudd Butt Baits
Sorry, my brain is faster then my hands, oil in the plastic bags I put the baits in. I am just using a zip lock bag. Is 4-5 drops for 5 worms enough or do I need to soak them?
Mudd Butt Baits
I wouldn't think a top water bait would need scent? It is a noise maker and gets bites that way.
