Coconut Bob
I have a couple of Herter's inc Waseca Minn USA model 4G2 and 4G3 Jig molds. I was hoping if anyone would know the type of jig hooks used in these molds. In Australia there is a very small and limited range of jig hooks to test in these molds. The old Doit Popeye mold Jis-4-L takes a Eagle Claw 7/0 either a 413 or 635 jig hook, the molds are very simular in the mold. Are these hooks still available. Any advice would be verey helpful. toadfrog
Both hooks are still available . LPO has them or did . Almost any jig hook with a 90 bend will fit . Those old Herter's molds were pretty loose fitting . Not to mention a lot of flash to file . I don't think the 4G2 and 4G3 took 7/0 hooks . I believe 4/0 and 5/0 were as big as they took . Been some time to say the least since I had those molds .
Coconut Bob
Thanks for that, I know they will not take a 7/0, but the molds appears it take a long shank hook. These molds have been machined on the surface and re-aligned, no flashing. poured a mold from each without hooks.
