Plastic Brands Versus Color Brands

Recommended Posts

I am new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have been pouring swim baits for the last 6 years. I started out with pop molds then made some out of polyester resin and am now using RTV molds. I mainly pour for myself and friends for fishing the ocean here in Oregon. We target albacore mostly and use up a few hundred swimbaits each per year. I have been successful and have a sponsorship from a local tackle shop to compete in the Oregon tuna classic tournaments as well as supplying them with my swimbaits. I attached a picture of some of my recent work. I am now using the large lee production pots with homemade stirring setup similar to what guys are using in the presto pots. I really like the ease of use while pouring with these pots but without a stirrer they are difficult at best.

I have been researching all the info here on different plastics and will sample them to see what I like best. Currently using the green LC saltwater (hard) plastic and there colors. It seems not all plastic makers or distributors have an abundance of color choices. I want to try other plastic but don't want to limit my color selection. So, can I use one brand of plastic and different brands for the coloring and glitter? I did not think it would be an issue but cannot find anything to confirm or deny my suspicion. I plan on trying MF, CCM, Bait junkies and lure works plastic all in the hard formula.

I also included a fish pic of an average day off our coast.
