How To Foil A Jig Like This?

So while I was searching Youtube for jig making ideas I came across this video.

It appears to be an oriental jig making factory.

What I a wanting to do is foil some slab jigs that I make. the jigs are quite similiar to those in the video.

They say it is an america made foil.  Anybody have any insight into making foiled jigs like this?

I have made a few test jigs with the foil ducting tape with a rolled pattern from some expanded metal on it. That works but is not nearly as nice as the foil job in this video.

I tried connecting to Stampee's website yesterday and apparently they are doing maintenance on the website. I know I've seen that type foil somewhere else, but the memory isn't working so good the last couple days. You might try sending a message to Nova as he was the one who told me about it.

Yeah I noticed that this morning. Hopefully they get it back working again soon.

The Stamppe appears to be the one I need. I was also thinking of trying Jones Tones but I am not sure how that one will work for this kind of application.

Are you making jigs like what is in your avatar pic? Those look like P-line laser minnows. I have been working on this for a year. My solution has been to buy silver casting jigs with foil already applied for a few bucks each. Lightly sand then customize the color, eyes, quality top coat.

The jigs in my Avatar are from my Shawn Collins fish jig molds. I make them in 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,12,and 16oz.

I am making saltwater jigs from 1oz-48oz and all sizes in between. I have over a dozen CNC mold from Shawn Collins and another CNC mold maker I know for various slab style and other saltwater jigs.

I do all my own casting and am not interested in repaints of someone elses work.

Eventually I will make this work for mew one way or another and I already have some hot stamp foil to try when I find the time.

If I didn't make the entire jig from scratch it just doesn't feel like it is completly my own creation.

I am glad you found a solution that worked for you. I'll let you know how mine worked and the solution I found that worked for me.

That way if I find a workable solution every forum member will be able to make foiled jigs like this.

I agree. My initial effort was to pour my own but the foil delima made buying pre-foiled "blanks" appealing. I don't sell lures so the quantities didn't justify the effort. I am currently having trouble finding a cost effective suitable "blank" so I am revisting the casting and foiling idea. I have never poured but I am happy to help find a foiling solution.

Did you contack WTP? They do all kinds of eyes and foil and may be able to help you out as far as bulk.  I order rolls of eyes from them in many sizes, and I am pretty sure they do sheep foil. Wish I could find my catalog from them to look.

No I did not contact WTP. They make sticky back foil not the heat stamp foil I bought to try.

I am wanting the effect the heat stamp foil gives me.

If sticky back sheet foil was able to give me the same effect I wouldn't have posed this question.

I haven't yet got around to experimenting with it.

I have been busy with putting up fish and berries. Fixing my house up and making jigs for customers with my existing powder paint finishes etc. etc.

Hopefully this time home i'll get to it. I work in a remote camp where I fly to work for 2 weeks then fly home for 2 weeks at a time so I am only home 1/2 the time.

Of course when I am home I have time normally but summer is a busy season and this house I bought last fall needed a few repairs I had to get done.

Like I said I hope to get to it but It is Duck season,and moose season and bear season and grouse season and the silver salmon are in and and and.........

I would but the river has been at or near flood stage for several weeks. Literally our two main local rivers have been extremely high due to heavy rains.

I will get some results soon enough though.

 

I did just order some paste glue made for foil adhesion on screenprinted T-Shirts. I am hoping it is easier to apply than the glue type ink and powder I bought.

The ink and powder method is used for paper foiling.

I live in SoCal.  It's been so long since it rained here we've forgotten what it looks like.
