Hooklineandsinker Posted March 22, 2014 Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 After trying several types of mesh for my crankbaits, I have settled on a shower puff. I like the way the material is flexable and sturdy. However, I notice that if the mesh is pulled too hard across the newly painted surface - "bamb" the mesh scratches the paint. Jaw Posted March 22, 2014 Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 I use a knitting hoop you get at fabric stores to hold my scaling material and when the material is new I have the scratching issue sometimes if I don't pull the lure straight down even after heatsetting I've found that if i shoot some paint through the material and heatset it first I don't have this problem I think it coats the edges of the scaling making a smoother edge Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Richard Prager Posted March 22, 2014 Report Share Posted March 22, 2014 Can't speak for the bath thingy's...I can neer get them on right.......I use netting from Joannes....if it seems a little stiff, throw in in the washing machine a few times. mark poulson Posted March 23, 2014 Report Share Posted March 23, 2014 You can also shoot a couple of coats of Createx gloss clear over the bait before you add the scale, to make the base paint coats harder.
