Rattles

Recommended Posts

If you can manage to drill an oversized hole for your glass worm rattles, and can trap them in the hole without gluing them in solid, they'll make more noise.  Also, if you line the hole with metal tubing, you'll get two different rattles.

I also use discs from alum. cans that I punch out with a hole punch.  The punch is 5/16" in diameter, so I drill a small pilot hole from side to side in the crank, countersink 1/16" deep with a 5/16" bit to make a seat for the disc, and then use a smaller bit for the rattle bore, using the pilot hole to guide the bit from each side.

I use PVC, so there's no need to line the hole, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't work with wood, too.
