Hi everyone I am trying find a mold for a double weedguard Jig.  Something like these

or these

any suggestions or do I need to have a custom mold made?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I thought for a while that there was just no need for a second weed guard until I was introduced to them.  I make alot of different jigs and none of them will go through grass like the double weed guard jigs do.  I have also had no bad results using them in hard cover.

Dan1942, me and another guy are working on these jig heads as well and we are in the process of making a jig that will hold the jig head in place and at the correct angle to use with a drill press.  We already know that this works but we are working on a more in depth holder so that we can add 2 weed guards to any jig head that has enough surface area.

You might be able to do it by just having a custom pin made.  One with a slot in the middle.  Then glue in the weed guards at an angle.

Another approach might be to glue a small wedge in with the weedguard.

I think its going to be a short lived jig style though.  (Just my opinion)  The majority of hangups (for me since I flip heavy cover a lot) with a jig come from the initial presentation where the jig is sailing hook first or willy nilly and hits the cover hook first.  The hook hits the stem, and deflects it under the weedguard which guides the stem into a place inline with the curve of the hooks so its in there when you pull it forward.  The double weed guard won't help much with that in my opinion.

Bob, Thanks a lot for your observations. I too love flipp'un. I never realized that this is what was happening with my jigs. a few days agoI made some jigs with double titanium weed guards and was very happy with the way they looked The weed guard is just about invisible. Thursday and Yesterday, I took them to the lake, Much to my dismay, they also possess this same intricacy. I lost several of them each day. Yesterday One of them hung up just about a foot under water and  the hook point had not even penetrated the limb it was exactly as you described it, just the limb inside the curve of the hook. I do not want this to be a short lived jig style for myself or anyone else, so I must work on a way to solve this problem. I already have an idea and if it is successful, I will post it. Again, thanks for pointing this out.

Here is my idea for making an almost snag proof jig. I have seen this design on hooks before but never on a Jig. I can't see why it will not work. What do you think?

Next Wednesday we have a tournament on Melton Hill Lake I will post a performance report.

The titanium wire is 55lb. test (Knot to Kinky) from LPO. The hook is a VMC 5/0 BLN, long shank spinner bait hook which I bent to 60 Degrees. I hand tie All my jigs so I had to come up with a way to keep the weed guard out of the way while tying. The last pic shows it.I

Hope this explains it all

John

The Medlock double guard jig ruled down in South Florida, Okeechobee and Istokpoga and basically anywhere that had similar cover, someone told me that he was a machinist by trade so I am sure he custom made his molds, a friend told me he was making them as fast as he could for a long while...where a jig like this shines imo is in pencil reeds which we have a great abundance of ....I just loop it up and over them and make sure i listen to hear it splash...then the next splash is the bass eating it,lol...
