Ballasting Resin Baits Without Weight

Recommended Posts

Llokkii - Who knows, it has to be tried.

If you are going to try it, then you need to read up on the Archimedes dunk test, so that you can determine the specific gravity of the result and compare it without water.

AnglinArcher - I could not find the Darlberg video with the resin thing, do you have a link. A lot of videos out there :)

Whoa!  That is awesome!  I just bookmarked that page for future reference.  Gonna print it off too and hang on my bait bulletin board.  Should probably laminate that and slip it into a reference binder too.  I can see now I need to do even more exploring into some of the older threads.  Thanks a bunch.

It was not one of his videos, it was one of his fishing shows on TV.  I think it was last year.  Larry told me about it in an email a little before that.

I figure that the resin gets pretty hot while curing and perhaps the water inside evaporates and makes bubbles that way.  Not sure how it works.  I would think that it would work on Fiberglass resins also, it gets even hotter and once mixed I know that water will not stop it from setting: I have used a paste fiberglass resin to repair holes underwater.

And yes, like llokkii and Mark said, your write-up on the dunk test is very good.  I have had it booked marked and referenced it many times for others to read in other forums.
