Ts656577
Hello everyone. I'm not knew to fishing but I am new to wanting to catch them on lures I've made with my own hands. I largely use rooster tails and spinners when I fish (sometimes hard baits but that isn't want I want to start with). I'm curious what types of tools/items are required to get started. I did a search but didn't really find an answer, although I may not have been putting in the right words. Any help is appreciated!
smalljaw
What do you want to make? If you want to make rooster tails you can start by buying wire shafts with 1 end (the line tie end) closed loop and then buy some round nose pliers and then hooks, blades, lure bodies and what ever else you need. That is just to start, if you find that you like making them you can go further by buying a wire forming tool like the Twist Tech or Boggs tackle maker and then wire to make the stuff. Yoju can buy brass lure bodies or you can buy a mold and pour lead ones that look like the rooster tail body and then paint them, a lot of different levels to consider. Now, the example is just going off rooster tail type spinners, if you tell us exactly what you would like to make then we can tell you exactly what you need and where to buy it from but be warned, it can get expensive real quick as this becomes and addiction for most of us.
