JR2
I was going to buy an EZ Twist Pro to make haywire twists for my tail hook hangers and line tie hangers and thought "Man I sure don't want to pay that much... there has to be a cheaper way." Most of you have probably figure out a way to do it easily and inexpensively but if not here is what I did. Using a small diameter hole saw and a drill, bend the wire in a "v" shape and on the tag ends bend them out where they almost touch the wire shaft (basically forming a "W". Slip the main (middle) "v" over a nail or hook screw and the 2 tag ends can be hooked in the slots on the hole saw to keep them secure. Let the drill slowly twist the wire and it will snug down on the nail and twist the wire tightly making a perfect haywire twist. The thickness of the nail will determine the size of the "loop" on the end and it's a perfect loop too.
pat28
There is also a homemade jig for this in the tool section. Pat
HAWGFAN
I use wire twisting pliers. They lock closed and hold the tag ends securely. I form the loop end with round jaw pliers. Just pinch each end of your bent wire, about three pulls of the knob, and you're done. The round jaw pliers are tapered, so adjust the loop size by the position on the jaw and how tight you twist. The pliers are very affordable from Harbor Freight, Item#45341.
