Wire Bender ?

Recommended Posts

I have a Hagens bender mounted on my bench in my little shop and it works great. I want to get my wife busy bending perch spreaders and bottom bouncers, but she won't work out in my shop. She wants me to buy another bender and mount it on a piece of wood that she can clamp to a table in the house. My question is would there be enough leverage with this clamped to a table?

I've made many a bait doing it just that way. Mounted on a piece of 3/4 inch cabinet grade plywood I had lying around. C clamped to the kitchen table. Works good. Put the wood on top of the table. You can even put a dish towel or something underneath it to protect the finish of the furniture.

No problem . You can glue a piece of felt or that spongy shelf liner on the bottom of whatever comes in contact with the table . Helps a bunch to prevent slipping and damage to surfaces . What ever you use to mount the bender to needs to be wide enough for a couple of C clamps and leave plenty of elbow room to work . Voice of experience here . Scared up an antique table once . Was three days before I saw that woman again . Finally the swelling in my eyes went down .
