gone2long
So It's going to rain so I thought today would be a good day to break out the cranks I bought from Jim of Predator Baits, I have the new wiggle wart and was looking for some color inspiration and saw that some of the models have the bill either painted partially or fully do you guys paint the bills or keep them clear? I'm leaning towards keeping them clear but open to suggestions and why.
nedyarb
Most of the original warts I have bought have paint on the bills. I kind of like the paint on look for some reason.
Hughesy
The original warts that have painted bills are not clear plastic. They are bone, white, or off white. I like the bill clear. If you paint the bill, your clear coat will get all chipped up from bouncing off bottom and may create a place for the water to get underneath and start peeling.

mark poulson
If you top coat with Solarez, including the bill, it will protect the paint on the bill as you bounce it off rocks. There will be wear and tear on the leading edge, but the paint will hold up fine. i dip mine and then hang them tail down so the resin on the bill thins out as it is drawn by gravity to the bottom and drips off. Having a top coat that I can apply in the garage, let hang and drip off, and then set in three minutes when I'm ready is amazing!
