Ab Hose Ends To Compressor

Recommended Posts

i have a paasche and an Iwata hose, i tried to screw the connector for my compressor hose on to the ends, but it seems they are a bit different do you know what the actual size and kind of threads they are?

they just dont seem to screw together just right, as i search the net i keep seeing NPT, on some things and BSP on others

i know npt is pipe threads for us and i searched and bsp is british pipe, would the hoses be all mixed thread types, or are my fittings just poor quality that they do not thread in right.

I had the same issue with my Iwata when I tried to adapt to my compressor hose fitting.  I just bought a 1/8" NPT to BSP adapter.  Just make sure the BSP side is male, so your hose will thread onto it.  That is assuming you have female threads on both ends of your hose, as I do.  You'll probably also need another adapter to go from the 1/8" NPT, up to the quick connect for the compressor.  I think mine was 3/8", but can't remember for sure.  I use a 3 gallon pancake type compressor.  Yours may be different. The NPT fittings are easy to find at your local hardware store.  The BSP adapter, you may have to order.

As Johnny Cash said in his song, "One piece at a time", all you need is an adaptor kit.

If you can, take your parts down to a hobby shop or airbrush supplier, to be sure you get the right fittings.

If you need to order online, try emailing the supplier to get their advice.

Pasche should be able to tell you, or Iwata.

I use a Paasche hose, which connects OK to a standard US compressor outlet (quick disconnect in my case).  I bought a "Paasche hose to Iwata airbrush adapter" from dixieart.com.  It was a couple of bucks and allowed me to use my old Paasche hose instead of buying a more expensive Iwata hose.  Airbrush sites usually have an array of adapter fittings available.  The one I got from Dixie Art was high quality, some others I've seen were not so good.  Don't forget the plumber's PTFE tape on the fittings to avoid leaks.
