Mooki
So, having received some excellent help with one of my questions a couple of weeks ago I reckon someone might be able to help me get this thing sorted out as well. I have a Hilts stand up jig head mold, called HDS-M. On the mold is stamped 32760, a bit weird though cause the "60" seems to be stamped over what looks like "56" - so I guess that the mold originally called for 32756. I have found the hook (32760) in my current arsenal, but it sure doesn't fit at all. Looking at pictures on line there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between 32760 and 32756 so my guess is that 32756 will fit just as bad. Might also mention that one of my other molds take either 32760 or EC 630 so they are likely very similar, and perhaps more people are more familiar with the 630 than the 32760. I've attached pics of 32760 (#1/0 and #2/0) in the mold to show the blatant "misfit" in the hopes that somebody might come up with an idea for a hook that might work. Seems that the shank between eye and 90° knee needs to be unusually short, or maybe a totally different angle - although I have yet to see jig hooks with a 120° bend
dlaery
a 32756 (Mustad) use to be the bronze hook and the 32755 was the gold hook, these are real close to Eagle claw 570 or 575 Now I think their is one number for both 32755 is either BR or GO Use to the 32750 was gold and 32760 was bronze. the diff between the 32755 and the 32750 is the distance from the eyelet to the shaft is shorter on the 32750 than the 32755. the 32762 should have the same length of eyelet but has a shorter shaft or overall length like the 32755 Edited May 21, 2014 by dlaery
Mooki
Thanks for your reply. I found an online Mustad catalog and with your words at the back of my mind I could see that there is actually a clearly distinguishable difference in the eye-shank measurement, which those other pictures I looked at did not show. Seems I'll be ordering some 32760 after all, once again thanks for your help.
dlaery
I have found the hook (32760) in my current arsenal, but it sure doesn't fit at all. based on what you have said and the pics you show in your original post, the 32760 won't work in your mold? I have had trouble with some hilt molds not what they say they are, and I have a couple of Do-it also that are wrong. There is another option, maybe not a very good one but, 32833 Mustad is a 2x strong hook, it is an expensive hook. but it has a shorter hook eye to shaft. Mooki
Oops, my bad. Somehow I managed to switch which hook I have - I looked again and it's the 32756 I have, not the 32760 as I claimed. Sorry for the confusion, I sure feel stupid
