Germany is not really up-to-date with pouring Softbaits and all that other stuff Since some weeks, i pour my own SoftBaits. There are a lot of ways to paint them. Alumadust, Spike-It and and and. But what i really need is a color for my Airbrush-Gun. I don't want to "burn" the paint. Just paint, let it dry, ready. Molix or Savage Gear are using paint for Airbrush-Guns and easy drying without burning them or dipping. Is there any chance to get some colors? Can i Airbrush the Alumadust or will it kill my nozzle? Frank Posted June 12, 2014 Report Share Posted June 12, 2014 There is paint you don't have to dip or clear but it can't be shipped from the US. Very flammable stuff. Frank Posted June 13, 2014 Report Share Posted June 13, 2014 The paint from mud hole is not the same. The only one that will work and does not need to be dipped is a PVC based product. Spikeit is the only one I know of that makes it for plastic baits. I know you asked for one you don't need to dip but there water based one works well but needs a top coat. Can you contact any plastic resellers in Germany to order it in when they get their next bulk shipments in? Or conversely, do you order drums yourself if so you might be able to get it bundled? The don't reveal the secret behind the sofbait colors. i know that they don't ship to germany. Sea freight takes months :/ But....if i order the ispikeit stuff to a friend in Virginia and she send it over to me... is that possible? edgecrusher Posted June 13, 2014 Report Share Posted June 13, 2014 I'm sure you might receive the goods, however it might be wise to find out if the carrier USPS/TNT/Fedex etc allow that product, and any ramifications for the sender if they breach those rules, Sadly sometimes a wait of 3 months is your only option. Roy_Detroit Posted June 14, 2014 Author Report Share Posted June 14, 2014 Mh it seems that this is my last option. a member from a german bait-builder forum tested a huge load of different paint. let it dry, done. problem is...its a custom paint. 1 L costs about 150€. The paint is really custom. He sent his Softplastics to the laboratory and the mix a special color for him. That takes a lot of money and a lot of time to create the perfect paint. Thats the reason why i created an account on TU. Another option is pearl powders that you can get at a regular art supply shop, I am pretty sure alumidust is just perl powder. Sharpies will bleed in,around and through the plastic.(been there,done that) Wait a month you'll be extremely disapointed.Spike plastic paint is the deal-learn to use an airbrush and you'll never regret the move. aulrich Posted June 16, 2014 Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 I figured there had to be a down side, so I guess to mitigate it I just need to have a set of pens in the tackle box. I do mostly pike fishing so baits rarely last very long. Would they still bleed if they are dipped? that option is open to me rather than to the OP. That said that leave the pearl powder painting with a heat gun set as a strong option, for those of us stuck looking for locally sources components. Frank Posted June 16, 2014 Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 Just got some info from Spikeit they can ship the solvent paint over seas but you need to buy at least a quart. This is the smallest container that has been pressure tested and approved for shipment in the air. Now shipping will be up there but there haz mat fees is for a shipment and not a package.
