mark poulson
I just got a new injector from Bass Tackle, and I want to break it in right. What lube should I use for the O rings?

bryanmc
Just put some worm oil on them. +1 Also the orange silicone o rings work much smoother than the black neoprene ones it comes with. Baitjunkys
Viton is the tuffest for heat.
Frank
where you getting the orange ones ?? Search silicone orings 214 and you will get a bunch of hits. I believe Basstackle is using them now as a standard part. Not sure they are orange but they are silicone. Been using them for years now and they are smooth and tough. They are softer than others and when warm they seal well.
Jig Man
I use cooking oil to lube my stuff.
Baitjunkys
It does look like silicone is rated a bit higher temp. And softer. Might have to try them myself..
mark poulson
I hope they're not made by Morton Thiokol.
mark poulson
I use cooking oil to lube my stuff. That's what I've used in the past. I just wondered if there was something different I should be using.

Yes a temp of 425 is what they are rated. I think the softer is the key even though it's not much. Looks to be about the same price too. joelhains
Your supposed to break it in? I started with mine right out of the box without any lube and it seems to work fine. But I guess I don't have a point of reference to compare to. Maybe I should put some worm oil on the rings to see if it makes a difference. Also mine came from BassTackle with an orange ring on the plunger and a black ring on the nozzle.
fishon-son
I shoot a couple shots of pam down the tube...works best..for me...oh it last for days nice and smooth...

Yes you got the silicone one. He said he was going to change to these. The one on the nozzle does not do anything but seal, the other one gets the real wear. I never heard of break in either, I lust unpack and use it.
mark poulson
My injector came with a black O ring on the nozzle, and an orange O ring on the piston. I asked Sarah at Bass Tackle if I could use spray Pam. She told me to give the spray Pam a try, and she would send me another O ring if the first one failed. Great customer service. mark poulson
Sarah from Basstackle just sent me two sets of replacement O rings, just in case my PAM experiment doesn't work out. Totally unexpected. Great customer service!
