AN IDEA....... Crazy maybe..... but who knows.

Recommended Posts

I had a idea, to try and make aluminum type molds.....

Do you guys know when you work on your pipes in the house, lets say your bathroom or whattever and you cut the pipe and then sodder it or seal it with this sodder stuff from the home depot/ lowes.... U take that small tank that has the fire and u put it up to the pipe and sodder...??

What if we made a prototype lure out of the clay that u bake so it get hard and make a 2 piece mold out of this stuff???

Melt the sodder over the lure with proper release agent, and make a 2 part mold???? I don't know, but it sounds like a idea....

let me know what you all think............

Great idea, but you may run into one problem. Most solder melts at 190 degrees centigrade, or 374 degrees fahrenheit. I'd say the melting temprature of the solder is a little to close to the pouring temprature of your plastic. You can try it, but if you get your plastic just a little too hot and pour, your mold will melt. :(

If you try to mix ceramics (pourous) and molten solder you are begging to be scared by molten metal particles. I would recommend not trying it for your sake. Ceramics are an insulator and Solder is a volatile molten metal, it could be a catastrophe. Another issue would be the acid content in the solder, that could really wreak havoc on the plastic itself. SOlder will turn anything black if you let it sit, and at temperature it releases quite a bit of chemical emissions. BE CAREFUL We don't want to see you lookin like freddy kreuger.
