JBlaze
Those are beautiful castings/baits. A couple of questions, They look like black nickel, Are those heads painted, or is this the way they come out of the mold? What do they actually weigh compared to a lead casting out of the same cavity ? Thanks for showing, John
fishhook
Hey John, They are bismuth and tin, The mold is really smooth then I polish them. The weight is less because of the alloy , so i just make them a size up.

mark poulson
Does the metal shine up like that when you polish it, or do you have to coat it?

Ogajiga
Wow, never seen mold cavities polished to that degree - you could probably sell that service. I would guess soft lead, maybe with 4+% tin added to retard surface tarnish, would have the same mirror finish?
mark poulson
It shines up with no top coat. Will it eventually tarnish or dull without a top coat?
fishhook
I just rub them with a paper towel and they shine back up Mark , They don't come out of the mold like that. Takes some polishing.
fishhook
I am going to see how a top coat looks plus to add protection , Im new at this lol...... Just learned about devcon 2 ton from Cadman a few days ago.
