jonister
hey all, So I was at a local hardware store, and saw this stuff called Plasti-Dip. This stuff it marketed for applying on tools, and is a liquid rubber that comes in sprayable or dippable cans. I was wondering if anyone has experience or thinks this would work on lead sinkers such as banana weights, for salmon trolling. If you look up "coated banana weight sinkers", you can see rubber coated lead trolling sinkers. I own some of these coated weights, but they are expensive to buy and when trolling as most know, it is easy to lose lead on snags, fish, etc. I have looked into using shrink tubing but it is Very epensive to buy, so this liquid rubber is my next option at 6$ a can. does anyone think it would work? cadman
Yes it will work. It is a bit messy and it does smell. Other than that it should be fine. It also comes in some solid colors. I have had guys on the wire bait forum use it for jigs and it does have good abrasion resistance. The only complaint was that it is only a solid color, so you can't be creative with it. nova
I tried it years ago on spinnerbaits/buzzbaits and jigs. Holds up fairly well but the finish dulls down quite quickley with use.

Fatman
Two thin coats are better than 1 heavy coat and let it dry in between. And if you have any favorite tools with messed up grips you can redo them!!
Bassbuster0927
You actually can buy Plasti-Dip online in a bunch of colors and finishes. Look at www.dipyourcar.com and look at their Full Spectrum Wheel kits. They offer gloss, flakes and pearlescent finishes.
