People Selling Baits From Online Molds

Recommended Posts

So, since I've started making my own baits and invested in a couple aluminum molds (because I'm a perfectionist) I've noticed some soft baits at the tackle store seem to be from the molds you can buy online from BAsstackle or BTS or Delmart etc..... Not the big companies like zoom or berkely but from small bait makers trying to sell their baits. I even saw a you tube video that a local guy admitted that most of the baits he markets are just form Basstackle molds. My question is how prevalent is this and do any of the companies that market these molds care if you sell their bait designs? Are their any legal implications? Any insight is appreciated. As a disclaimer I just pour for myself & friends-no selling just figuring out how this all works.

No worries until you have molds made that resemble or actually reproduce patented baits say like a beaver for instance, there have been mold makers who offered this mold and it was the bait maker selling them that will be in hot water not just the mold maker I think they even have the name locked up. Now on the other hand Do-It is in a working relationship with GY for his Senko but they have to mill their name into the mold by the egg sac to differentiate the 2.
