You can get a stash of them beforehand, and pay as you use them. You can print the label and pay for the shipping online (you get a bit of a discount for paying online), then just put the package in your mailbox. It's super convenient. I'm willing to pay a bit more for that convenience, and my customers don't seem to mind. Single lures are rolled up in bubble wrap and placed in a padded security envelope which also has bubble wrap inside of it. If I can ever find a cheap supply of clam shell packaging I'll feel better about using the padded envelopes but I haven't had any issues with broken lures yet. Cougarftd Posted September 3, 2014 Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 I use lure boxes, add about .30 to cost of shipping. Then mail in smaller tyvek envelope. Secure with packing tape. Can ship a few baits for a couple of dollars. Mailmen like the boxes as there is little to no chance the hooks will poke through the bag. Bois d'Arc Posted September 6, 2014 Report Share Posted September 6, 2014 Take a piece of light cardboard, like used for a cereal box, and cut the sides out. Take your lure, with hooks attached, and lay it on the cardboard with the front and rear hooks pulled in opposite directions, belly hook toward the bill and tail hook away from the body. Draw a small square around the hooks and lure. Cut the square out and bend it so the hooks are over the front and rear edge of the cardboard. Use scotch tape and tape two barbs of the rear hook over the end of the backside of the cardboard. With the belly hook over the front edge and you'll see how much cardboard needs to be cut off to make the hooks fit tight over the edges. Adjust the length of the cardboard and with the front hooks over the front edge tape two barbs across the backside of the cardboard. I use a small paper sandwich sack like you buy at Wally World cut it in half and roll the lure/cardboard backer up like a cigar and tape it. If the top barbs try to punch thru just pinch the sack over the barb and add a piece of tape over the pinch. I can get several of these in a 6" x 6" bubble wrap bag....also available at WW. Works great....never had a problem with this. If a lure is the right size you can use your business card for the cardboard back on one or two....free advertisement. Hope this helps.
