joelhains
I was rehabbing a house that caught fire. That's were my plastics microwave came from!
alsworms
LOL - microwaves can be VERY temperamental. If I can add my 2 cents, I'd say don't get a used one. Everyone is spot on with the low power, but buying a new one around 40 to 50 bucks is your best bet.
Lonestarbaitcompany
I bought a used one from a yard sale for 15.00 still going strong 2 years later. A lower power one is great, its a little harder to ruin the plastic. but anything will work. Stir and monitor often
mark poulson
Invest in a digital thermometer, and check the temps after you stir, because the plastic heats from the middle out.

fishingislife
A touch off topic, but I saw a comment posted on the newbie sticky at the top that I wanted clarification on. Is it a bad idea to microwave soft plastic with metal flake mixed in?
JRammit
I had some old black worms with blue flake in them, I was nervous about nuking them, but they melted down fine.... Probably wasn't metal flake, idk if anyone even uses metal flake in plastic, most likely polyester, which is fine in the microwave

JRammit
So theres metal that doesnt arc in a microwave?? Why don't they make forks out of that kinda metal???
Baitjunkys
When you have something else to absorb the energy the sparking is not a issue. the plastic is absorbing the energy, If you put the flake in by itself it likely would spark..
