mcallister920
I'm sure everyone can attest to the amount of time we spend on our craft. What does your bait station look like? mark poulson
We should probably post any pictures in the Hard Baits Gallery, and then add a link to them here.
Travis
We should probably post any pictures in the Hard Baits Gallery, and then add a link to them here. Mark is right based on the rules of the site. I have always felt this is about the worst possible rule for a site to implement as it destroys any fluidity in the posts/threads and ultimately reduces the use of the site. I see it as an archaic throwback to earlier days of computing something more in line to late 90's internet/computer usage. I would hope that at some point things will change and we can have threads with pictures to add to the content.
Vodkaman
I think workshop images belong here, not in the gallery. The gallery should be reserved for lures etc. Dave
RayburnGuy
If I read the rules right then pictures can be posted in threads as long as they pertain to the question being asked. Seems like there was a thread posted some time ago asking pretty much the same question as this one and there was not a problem. Mark and Dave should remember the one I'm talking about. As far as I know the threads that get locked are the ones where the pictures are posted as a way of showing ones work instead of posting a picture to make a question more clear. It seems logical to me that if pictures weren't meant to be posted in the forums then there would be no option to do it. Hopefully Nate will read this thread and can tell us which is correct. Travis
I recall a similar thread also now I think about it. I guess it just depends on how one interprets the rule as to me "show me your workshop" really doesn't clarify any sort of question. Personally I just would find it more useful to have pics (no matter what they retain to) in threads, never been to a site that hasn't allowed it. Musky Glenn
Travis times 2. I would be for showing all photos right here without having to roam around to glance at what is being talked about. Question or no question. RayburnGuy
I kind of like it the way it is. The gallery is designated to show off your talent and that keeps the forums clear for discussions on building lures. With threads titled "What do you think" or "Take a look at this" that requires opening the thread to see what some vague description is actually talking about it's just wasting your time if your not in the mood to look at a paint job. Another thing I like about having the gallery designated as a place to show off your work is that you can go to one place and see pictures from all the different forums in one place. If the gallery were done away with, and showcasing ones work was allowed in the different forums, then you would have to go to multiple forums to see if anything new had been posted if you were interested in more than one type lure. And even then they would be scattered over a number of posts. One other thing I've noticed is that there are quite a few folks that have been posting pictures in the gallery for a good while now that have never contributed anything to any of the forums. Not even to say hello or say something about themselves. It seems that they're only using TU as a place to show their lures. Not saying they shouldn't be allowed to do that as they aren't breaking any rules, but if posting those pictures in the forums were allowed it seems the forums could become quite cluttered. That's just my and I'll get off the soapbox now. Ben
mark poulson
I don't know anything about computers and software, but maybe there's different setup for the Forums than for the Galleries. I do know pictures take up a lot of space, and computing time.
mcallister920
I'm relatively new here, but not to forums. And usually that's what subcategories in forums are for. Example: once inside the "hard baits" section there would be subcatigories like: General discussion, balsa baits, painting, off topic etc etc. Each subcategory with guidelines as to content allowed via moderators. That would help organize the topics and it wouldn't matter if people posted pics to a post as long as it's in the correct subcategory. Just a thought
Jaw
So are we going to post picture replies to the original topic here (not that I've got a good picture of my junked up shop) or will it be in the gallery? Just so it's clear
RayburnGuy
@ mcallister I'm no software writing guru by any means, but I would think that by including categories and sub categories to all the different forums you would be talking about a major new update to the entire website and I have a feeling nobody wants to go through that again anytime soon. And it still wouldn't address being able to go to one page to see all the new photos posted in the different bait categories. @ jaw Post it here Jaw. The pictures will no doubt illicit replies and by posting it here there will be no need to click on a link to look at a picture and then come back to make a reply. mark poulson
Years ago I posted three pictures of my garage shop. It's changed a little, but not a lot, since then. Mostly I just cleaned up a little. Here's the first picture. If you click on the next arrow on the right you can see the next two: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/3590-my-paint-shop/
Nathan
Pictures of our " lairs" will be just fine here..( I kinda feel like Batman now that I have a Lair..lol)If we opened this forum up to all pictures ,the guys like Ben is talking about would fill this forum with their pictures and we would have to weed through them just to find any discussion about baits....Nathan
mcallister920
i can understand how things could get out of hand. thank you for the clarification Nathan

Musky Glenn
Nathan great web site, I have no problem with the way photo's are handled. I have a finished basement room that is cluttered to the max. I wouldn't want anyone to use my dungeon as an example of where to paint. lol I may clean it up enough one day to share. I never was one for neatness, but I do admire seeing yours. Musky Glenn
Vodkaman
Here is a video tour of my old workshop. Due to fiscal restraints, I had to give it up, but this vid will always give me fond memories. One day I will re-build. I had to upload to Photobucket, let me know if the link worked.
