NeBASSka
Has anyone tried out the Eagle Claw 500BP AKA Lil Nasty hooks, or any of the 500 color variations? I like nearly everything about the Matzuo Sickle hook, but it has 1 fatal flaw, which is the microscopic barb that they put on them. I have never had a problem with them losing fish, but I have gone through pounds of leeches because of them. I was wondering how to they compare to the sickles, mostly barb size, but also if there are any aspects in which the Matzuo outshines the Eagle Claw. smalljaw
I'm going to order some and from what I heard they are really good with better quality control.
mark poulson
Try pushing a plastic disc onto the hook after the leech. You can punch them out of margarine tub tops, and they will hold your leech better.
goodtimesfishing
I use bait buttons when I tip my jigs with prawn, steelhead fishing. They work really well, might work for you. Not sure how to put links on here but if you google "bait buttons" you will find them. The dispenser is what makes it work so great....so easy! Fatman
Talked to a few guys that have tried them out and they really like them. The problem of eyelet to bend length isn't a problem with them and they report the hooks are very sharp. Barb is a bit bigger - one comment was that even though they're a few dollars more than the Matzuo's they're worth for not having any problems. Waiting to free up some cash so i can order some.
