mark poulson
Ben, You know me too well. But now it's that damn PVC dust, and it sticks to everything. On the glitter stripe subject, has anyone tried brushing a stripe on with the thicker super glue that comes in a bottle with a brush, and then sprinkling glitter over that? I still have some polyacrylic in a dipping jar somewhere in my garage, but it's sat so long I'd probably need a jack hammer to get the solids into suspension again. Hahaha In my never ending quest for good, fast, and idiot-proof, I've accumulated a great selection of "the usual suspects" over the years that have made their way to the back of the line, as each new candidate for "the perfect top coat" has bumped them back. Inrll
I did something like this earlier this year using holographic foil tape. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/13044-2014-03-20-202420/ I will be interested to see how yours turns out because I planned to paint more like it this winter. Cougarftd
There is a glue that is used for putting glitter on nails...it is thin and clear...you drop the glitter on and clear. It will be exactly what you want.
Bois d'Arc
Following up on the glitter stripe. The glitter doesn't lose its color when dipped in MCU or concrete sealer...but the concrete sealer requires more than one dip to completely seal the glitter so it won't flaked off when you run your fingers across it...(pretty hard not gently). Cougarftd is right about the nail glue.....I sent my wife on a mission to find some of the stuff.....OK I'm a little worried about hanging around the nail polish rack at Wally World and absolutely refuse to walk into a beauty shop to buy nail care products . Anyway the glue works perfectly and its easy to apply. Thanks to Cougarftd.
Cougarftd
I was messing around with a bait (gill) and wanted to try a little flash in the stripes on the side. I used finger nail glitter used in manicures. There is an adhesive you brush on over the lines ...lightly sprinkle the glitter...and dry (I used a heat gun). When completely dry I cleared with 2 coats of clear. Attached is the end result. Don't pay attention to the paint job...(I was just screwing around) but the glitter idea may be good. MuskyGary
What about using the Scotch Super 77 Adhesive for the flashabou? It's a spray on glue, then put the flashabou in place and let dry? I use the spray glue for attaching foam to the bottom of plano boxes for putting my jigs and flies in.
