bassmaster0726 Posted October 22, 2014 Report Share Posted October 22, 2014 Lately I have been using do its plastic and am very unpleased with the quality of the plastic. I have been battling micro bubbles and foam with do its plastisol. I would heat the plastic with no signs of burning. It would stir it and let it sit on the counter top for a bout a minute and watch it burn without initial heating or reheating. The plastic would also dry way too fast which meant i had to reheat it many time which caused discoloration of the plastic which ultimately lead to money wasted. I purchased 2 gallons of Medium Plastisol and was very very pleased at the outcome. Not a single bubble and clear as can be let it sit on the counter and no burning of the plastic whatsoever. The plastic dried ina reasonable time which led to less reheats and no dicoloration. It also doesnt have a funky smell like do its. The date that the plastic was made and comes right on the jug of plastisol. it was made 5 days before it arrived in my hands so I know im getting fresh and quality products from baitjunkys. I have the same problem when reheating. within 2 reheats on low power and plenty of stirring my plastic is yellowing. costs me money! Is this stuff all its cracked up to be? smallmouthaholic Posted October 24, 2014 Report Share Posted October 24, 2014 Calhoun's turns amber very quickly w/ microwave heat. I stopped using Calhoun's years ago because of that. All plastisols will eventually turn amber/yellow w/ re-heats in a micro wave- some do it faster then others. Bogbaits Posted October 24, 2014 Report Share Posted October 24, 2014 Just want to say im not knocking anyones products,Ive tested everything out there in the last 4 years we have been in business,for me I have 4 1000 watt microwaves and leave them on high,the best plastic I have found for that application is LURECRAFT Saltwater,I can leave the mic on high and get several reheats without any Yellowing,You have to deal with the hard pack but to me its worth it,this plastic has a lot of heat stabilizer in it,just thought I would mention it in case you like to leave the mic on high and save from yellowing,saves me a lot of time and trouble and I like the finished product as well! Wondering if the date is the repackage date or the manufacture date? If you have been experiencing yellowing after two reheats I would check my temps carefully it should take longer than that. If you inject baits you could go as low as 280 and still get a great bait. I know it will be hard to mix but it will shoot. After that most are getting bubbles that are self inflicted by stirring. Worth it yes but when you stir it time and time again it could come back. After that I bought a gallon of lurecrafts #502 plastisol and I think that it works really good. I can get the plastic pretty hot and it doesn't turn yellow and I don't have problems after I reheat it. But I just noticed because of this post that baitjunkys plastisol is cheap in comparison to lurecrafts. I think I might try them out next time. Stir heat again and shoot. I have left a gallon in a presto pot for 1 hr plus without yellowing. It is tacky and can not be bagged same day. It could be dried out with additives but the trade off is yellowing. I cant speak for others only myself. I take great care in the packaging process. Just as softner seperates so does stabilizer. Thanks Frank. The only time I use it is when my plastic has been heated for more than thirty minutes. Other than that I don't add it at any time. Other than that I don't add it at any time. I don't add stabilizer either as I've never witnessed it making a difference in white/pearl colors since I use Presto pots w/ stirrers.
