MidwestFishingShow
Looking for the best place(s) to buy colorants, scents and flake. Also how far will a 1oz color container of color get me? Are they even worth buying or should I get bigger ones. Thanks

rixon529
Looking for the best place(s) to buy colorants, scents and flake. Also how far will a 1oz color container of color get ng or should I get bigger ones. ThanksLurecraft.com describes their liquid coloring:"Two ounces of standard liquid coloring will color from one to two gallons of plastic. Highly concentrated! Please experiment with mixing your own colors. The amount of coloring will yield either a light shade or a strong color." A long time ago it was estimated that one gallon of plastisol would produce something along the line of 1200 skinny six inch worms. Even if one ounce only colored one half gallon you could still get about 600 skinny six inch worms. (Just use your imagination to convert the volume of skinny six inch worms to the bait of your choice...) Just be aware that once the "mad scientist" in you gets going and you start experimenting, you might be surprised at how much coloring you'll go through. I don't produce baits for sale, just personal use, but I've been satisfied with the two ounce size and how long it lasts. If I were to start experimenting heavily for color matching, for example, I would go for the four ounce size. If I were to start producing baits for sale, I would probably go with the pint (16 ounce) at a minimum. Just my two cents... Rick Looking for the best place(s) to buy colorants, scents and flake. Bassinfool
I have several one, two and pint size bottles that I use. Many of those one ounce sizes are bottles I have from when I started pouring and injecting more than 2 years ago and I still have them. If you're just starting out I would suggest going with the 1 ounce size and if you end up using it up and figure you'll use more than that in the future you can always buy bigger. I have colorants from nearly everyone but my favorite so far have been from ispikeit.com who I also buy a lot of my flake and additives from as well. mark poulson
If you're just starting out, I would buy the 2 oz, so I could afford more colors. Put some sst bb's in each bottle, and shake them well before use. Actually, shake them all when you are pouring, so the color never packs at the bottom. Getting it back into suspension, once it's settled and packed, is almost impossible to do without a true aerobic workout. Once you've decided which colors you use most, and how much you use, you can buy larger sizes. But, for a hobby pourer who only pours for myself and my buddy, the 2 oz size lasts a looooong time!
