mark poulson
Does anybody fish this lure? I just got this mold and Im curious how you rig it. I tried using a 1/0 swimbait hook but do not like how it swims. No clue. I've never fished them. I would try a belly weighted hook and see how that affects how it swims. The farther forward the weight is, the more head down the bait will fall, so the faster you have to work it. Depending on what you're looking for, a longer hook might restrict the tail action, but it might let the bait fall horizontal, so it could be a good trade-off. jeffhill
I pour molds that are very similar to the 4" and 5" versions of this mold but they are used mainly as a line-through. If I pour them without the insert, most of the guys just use a jig head, like a poison tail. I don't know how much a different head design is going to help how it swims, though. The baits that I pour have a very distinct side to side swimming motion. If you're wanting the bait to have more action in the tail a softer plastic might help. I'm not sure if there is anything else you could do.
