RSNeely
Since you cant buy a mold like the Reaction Beaver, can I make my own or are there legal issues with that if im caught?
DaveMc1
Id doesn't matter what reasoning is given as to why, If you copy a patented bait, you are violating that patent. My take on the whole thing is if you want that particular bait, buy it, if you want something better then make it. MuskyGary
It centerns on money. As long as you do not sell them for cash, you can make them. So yes you can make anything out there to use or trade or give away!

This is one of the biggest myths concerning patents, It does not matter if you sell the baits or not, just the mere act of copying the patented product violates the patent. I you make a pop mold of RI's beaver and make 10 baits for your self, then they send you a cease and desist you must comply or you can be taken to court on a patent violation. RSNeely
Is it just the RI's beaver i can't duplicate? What about Strike Kings Rodent? It does have Patent Pending on the packaging.
DaveMc1
There are quite a few baits that have been patented, it is a long process to get a patent and to protect their product a lot of companies will advertised that their product is patent pending, they are still protected
longhorn
Do an eBay search for "soft plastic mold". There are usually some Beaver molds for sale.

ipt
to be honest, those baits might be the most popular, but i think you'll find that knock offs or anything similar will work just as well if not better. if you want to copy an exact bait using POP or any other molding material, do it for yourself and keep it to yourself. Bassinfool
I have a LinMar beaver mold lying around somewhere I haven't used in years. They got in trouble a while back from RI for selling the mold I have. Thing is, I have knock offs that catch just as many fish so I have no reason to copy a bait. Part of the reason I don't know where that mold is haha
