timbass
Howdy folks, I was wondering if any of you have done business with dakotalakestackle or specifically if you have ordered any of their unpainted lure bodies? I am just getting into airbrushing my own baits and have seen posts on here that warn of poor quality and leaking in baits from certain sites. I see that predatorbassbaits seems to have lots of supporters that the owner seems to back his products which is great and I will order from him in the near future. Dakota has some things I would like to try as well so I was just curious if anyone had any insight about their quality. Thanks for any info you can offer. -Tim

Venutian_Lures
Never ordered from him personally, his bodies are more expensive than the guy I buy from by .80-$1 per bait. Which is primarily why I haven't bought there. Nothing against Dakota, if you're painting for yourself price isn't as big an issue, if you're a business or plan on selling them, I would go with Predator or a few other places with better pricing. With the others few cents either direction lol I'm good friends with someone who makes the molds and blanks, so I probably have the easy way out with lure body pricing
Cougarftd
If he is in North America...and he manufactures them...put his info out. I would love to buy domestically .
Saugerman
I don't normaly buy from the cheap stuff off ebay from China. But I 'm wanting to start painting crankbaits, so I bought the 1.5's a seller had for sale for 10 baits for 10.00 with free shipping. I received them today, and must say they look ok , just by looking at them, but they may be leakers,or not run write, can't say. Has anyone else had any experience with these? Tried to turn the bold lettering off on my computer, don't know what Iv'e done to turn it on.
Cougarftd
Usually by the time you clear any minor leaks will fill in.
Venutian_Lures
If he is in North America...and he manufactures them...put his info out. I would love to buy domestically . He is! I'll talk to him about doing it on a larger scale, he usually only makes enough for a couple friends but his stuff is good. Last time I bought from him he only had 25 of each body type. rhersh
Sorry, i forgot to mention who i was referring to, i am reffering to Dakotalakestackle. I just tried his site out and it says closed for business. I was on it a week or so ago and it worked. So I have to assume that he gave it up. I used to have his e-mail address but cannot find it now. To bad he was great to deal with.
rhersh
I just seen on another thread that he said on facebook that he is updating his site and would be back up after that. Hope it is true.
dakotalakestackle
I apologize, I don't get to this site as much as I used to. I had someone email me about this thread and wanted to know what happened to the site. Thank you all for the kind words, I am in the process of switching services that host my website. I was hoping to have it back up today or tomorrow, but the domain transfer is taking longer than I had hoped. The website address will remain the same www.dakotalakestackle.com, but will look completely different. Cleaner and easier to find information. 2015 I hope will be a big year for us, I will be getting my first shipment of the bait I designed soon. They had some problems with the bait releasing from the mold and held up the first delivery which was supposed to happen early December. I also plan on having a smaller version of the same bait made in early spring. I have really enjoyed creating/designing baits and seeing how they perform. I have been using a CAD program to design baits and getting them 3D printed or carving them out of wood to test them. I have a few more designs that I would like to get a mold made for this too. I can not say it enough but, THANK YOU to everyone who has bought blanks from us in the past and the repeat customers who keep coming back. I always try to get email questions answered as soon as I can, the best I can. This is not my full time job by any means and is still mostly a hobby. In my "real" job I design fixtures and tooling using a CAD program (SolidWorks) for prototype agriculture and construction equipment. Mostly large tillage implements. My wife has gone back to school to get her masters in nursing while still working fulltime. We have 2 young boys (3 1/2 and 9 months) that take up most of my free time, while my wife is studying. With all of that being said. Dakota Lakes Tackle is a huge priority to us and we will continue to work on growth by adding more baits and keeping current baits in stock along with continued customer service. Thank You all and have a Merry Christmas.
