WidowMaker
Ive had a few people ask me about making Umbrella Rigs for bluegill, crappie and white bass. They are wanting something with the wire diameter of what would be used on a 1/16 oz. beetle spin clip on arm. They are not wanting them so much for casting as they are wantng them to use on a telescopic crappie pole to dip around buck brush and to fish schooling white bass jumps out in open water. Has anyone made any with a 1/10 oz. head and either a .018 or .022 wire?
Jig Man
Good luck with that. A friend of mine is a crappie fisherman and has made lots of variations of A rigs trying to catch crappie on them. So far he has not even caught his first one. You don't need light wire to catch whites. We fish for them in March and use the regular wires. We catch whites, blacks and walleye but not a single crappie. tmosth
I catch all kinds of white bass in the winter time on regular A-rigs. Sometimes two at a time. I have also caught crappie on them but not very often. I am usually fishing 3" paddle tail grubs on them. They are the Zoom paddletails swimming grubs.
