jonister
So i bought this clearcoat called OS Coatings Vinyl lure and jig finish, by Csipaints.com. It is suposed to dry "rock hard" but for me it is staying soft enough to dent with my finger nail. I got on their site and it doesnt give much info on how to use this stuff and the can just basically says to "apply" but is not specific. i am wondering if it needs to be heat set or something. Has anyone used this clearcoat before or have any ideas of what to try?
Tracy G
I have about 3/4 of a jar left. It did the same thing for me.

Jaw
Didn't have much luck with it myself. It will strip paint and crackle up like paint with moisture in it. It did work on some cork poppers I made for fly fishing though
jonister
Ok, i might just use it on jigs then, @jaw, it did exactly what you described. it crackled my paint even after about a month in a heat box. Thanks for the replys!
mark poulson
My experience with vinly paint is that it melts when it contacts plastisol, as in jig trailers.
jonister
Even when dry? that wouldnt be good as this is labeled as jig/lure coat. jigs were going to be my last try with this stuff
Skeeter
Dude... it sounds to me like you just need to cut your losses and use something else. Go to the jig forum and look up powder paint and fluid bed. That is the best way to go. Powder paint is really tough. Skeeter
