eatsleepswimbait
i will be making my first mold out of balsa wood and would like to know if I would need to seal the would before i make the mold? If so, what type of sealant would you suggest? also, would mold release have an effect to the wood if used? Thanks greatly in advance. appreciate all info. Jdeee
I use a product called sonite wax when I pour silicone molds. I think you can use petroleum jelly (Vaseline) but it might be smart to check with mold material manufacturer. I used poplar to make my masters, I find it holds detail better if you want to recast many molds in the future. Anglinarcher
I have used Solarez. I brushed it on thin so it did not fill in all of the wanted detail, but enough that it would fill in the wood pours. Worked for me.
