MarshCustomLures
Just wanted to get an idea of how you guys price repainted new lures. I repainted some new Kickin Sticks and have some people asking to buy them. Just not sure how much to ask. I posted some pictures of the lures in the gallery, but am unsure if I should also put them here. Let me know what you think.
Venutian_Lures
Usually I end up charging more for repainted store bought lures. Mostly because the store bought lure costs more than a blank, and because there is slightly more work involved with repainting already painted and finished lures. Pricing is always subject to the one selling it though, so naturally you can price them however you want.
barr5150
I feel whatever you charge isn't enough. You have to figure what you want to make an hour, divide that by the time spent, add in shipping/paypal costs and material. Broke out I'd need to get $20 for anything I paint which isn't realistic. From what I see repainting brings about $10, if your good. At that point, to me, your almost just doing someone a favor. I'm guessing guys that do it as an actual job probably go for volume. Guys that are repainting a few here or there aren't even breaking even.
Bois d'Arc
For me its a hobby and if I can make a few bucks to offset the cost I'm OK. Once had a guy chew my ear about selling repainted lures too cheap ($7 - $9)......again, if I can make a few bucks to offset the cost I'm OK. I enjoy painting, its relaxing, and trying to match a factory pattern, come up with a good pattern of my own, or match the foragefish in my area lakes is a good challenge......so money isn't everything....but it helps pay for everything

Skeeter
If you didn't have a lot of prep time and the durability is good, then $10-$15 is fair. Skeeter

I should show you a guy that gets $50 a pop for a painted RC blank, and he sells them year round at those prices You don't want to know his repainting fees! mark poulson
I think too much time is required to make truly good paint jobs to ever have it be a money maker for a small guy, unless you're Hughsey.

I've been in his shop and watched him paint, doesn't take as long as you'd think. That's all he does now is paint blanks for a living. Making the rest of us look bad LOL

Cougarftd
Cost of the bait plus what you normally charge to paint...if bait is $6 and you normally charge $10 for a paint job then $
CustomBaits4You
I looked him up. Super cool craws... idk how I would begin to airbrush that. Ive seen him on eBay once or twice. Very cool.
MarshCustomLures
I took a slightly better pic of the lures. The detail is a little more visible in this one.
CustomBaits4You
Ok now let me ask a quick question. What about repainted used lures? They are dirt cheap at yard sales and such. I have been meaning to try some on eBay just to see where it goes.
Bois d'Arc
I've sold some used lures on eBay with good results. Custom repaints of factory lures can fetch a fair price if the lure is one that people want, is in good condition and the finished product is good. Low end ($2-$4 BassPro) factory lures that have been custom repainted will sell, but not for as much as an old LuhrJensen HotLips repaint would. The pattern, clearcoat and lure model itself make a lot of difference in final value on eBay. At least thats how its worked for me.
