encoly
I need a darker brown color for my jig heads, than the standard brown in the pro-tec line. Is it possible to mix the brown and black pro-tec powder paints to get the desired color?
smalljaw
You can blend them but I doubt you'll get the color you want as I've had trouble with dark colors blending well. My advice would be to check out Columbia coatings, Roseys, or another powder paint supplier and look to see if there is a dark enough brown. Columbia has one called brown finish, it is awesome and dark but has a metallic look to and it may not be what you're looking for.
rustedhook
I have mixed black with brown to darken it up and it turned out pretty good. Fishingskirts.com has a couple good looking dark browns.
cadman
Like mentioned you can mix the black and brown, but you won't get a true solid pigmented color. You may get slight shade differences in the jig. However depends on how much you care, it may not matter. There is a color that I use and it is call Patrician bronze, which is a very dark brown black. See if you can't find it. If not how much do you need, as I might be able to help you. cadman
Cadman, who makes the powder, so I can check it out. It is either Sherwin Williams or Dupont. If you can't find it let me know
encoly
I found it at dupont, but my wife said it was more grayish than a dark chocolate. thanks anyway. I'll just keep looking at color samples , till I find the right one.

encoly
Well, I got tired of looking at color samples, and just threw some black into the brown I had in my fluid bed, mixed it up and it was almost exactly what I wanted. The xyl said is was a little darker than my sample jighead, but I'll take it. Thanks guys for all of your input.
Chris20X2
If it helps, the Pro Tec Grn. Pump and Brown are RAL colors which are pretty universal to all powder companies. I use Prismatic myself. Grn. Pump- RAL 6014 Brown- RAL 8011 This will give you a starting point as to which color would be darker as you go up or down the scale.
