Matt Moreau
Sup guys! I am going to post this here and hard baits to see if anyone has ideas... I am trying to figure out what i can use for a tail material on my hard swimbaits. I want something that is harder than plastisol but still soft enough where it will collapse in a fishes mouth. I have experimented with using hardner in plastisol but i can't get the stiffness i wanted. maybe i need more but if i use too much it clumps all up and isn't workable. I like what River2Sea uses on its baits like the S-waver and looking for something like on the roman made swim baits. If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know! Cheers, Matt
Lilpdriverrat
Alumilite flex #30? Edited January 16, 2015 by Lilpdriverrat
mark poulson
I use clear margarine tub tops. They are thin enough to fold, but strong enough to hold up. The plastic fits in a fine saw kerf, is held in with crazy glue, and can be removed and changed with an exacto knife.
Anglinarcher
Check out the hard bait post on it. The Flex 30 might work great, but I will stick with HS2.
Vodkaman
There is a remeltable rubber available from hobby shops, Gelflex is the name. It comes in blocks and you can heat it in the microwave. It would certainly do the job, as I have considered this application before, but not got around to it. Vodkaman
The gelflex probably won't suit the application as it is a light brown color. Certainly tough and flexible enough. Dave
Bassinfool
Think you could airbrush the gelflex vodkaman? Wouldn't be able to have a nice transparent tail or anything but that could certainly be an option if the paint would adhere to it.
Vodkaman
I am sure you could paint it, but would the paint stand the flexibility. Dave
mark poulson
Would a solvent based sharpie work to color the gelflex?
Matt Moreau
Thanks Guys! I will look for that gelflex at hobby lobby. Im thinking flex 30 is too soft maybe the flex 70 might work though!?!?!
