CustomBaits4You
I would like to paint some Storm Arashi crankbaits but have no idea how to remove the eyes without wrecking them. Has anybody came across a method? I have seen them for sale custom painted so ik its possible. I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Jaw
You could also put clay over the eyes then paint the clay can be easier to use as a mask than tape on some objects if you can't remove them without damage

Thanks. I put blue painter's tape over the eyes, and use a dull wooden stick to form it around the eye. Then I trace around the outside with a dull exacto knife a few times, and the tape cuts without tearing or coming off. RayburnGuy
I've sharpened the ends of a couple different sizes of stainless tubing (just happened to be what was laying around) to use as a hole punch. I stick the blue painters tape to a piece of wood and then use a hammer and the sharpened tubing to cut out round pieces of tape to place over the eyes. Jaw
Mark I just make a small ball of clay and place it on the eyes and shape it with a toothpick or piece of wire. I can't take credit for the idea though I'm sure I saw it on a video a few years ago can't remember who did it though
mark poulson
Thanks to both you and Ben for your ideas.
saltshaker
These Arashi eyes are specific to that lure. Saving them is critical, otherwise, you find yourself plugging the eye socket to use a round one. I just paint over those eyes and then clean the paint off before clear coating using a wet Q-tip. Works for me.
