RiverMan
I have been painting resin lures with createx and even with heat setting the paint doesn't seem to have the adhesion it does when sprayed on to lure surfaces I have painted in the past. Anyone else notice this? RM

mark poulson
Maybe a quick dip in some kind of solvent, to remove any surface contaminants and open the "pores" of the resin a little.
SLT785
From Alumilite's FAQ about casting: Yes! We recommend lacquers or acrylics but you may also use synthetics or enamels. A lacquer primer may be needed to assure the long tem effectiveness of the paint. You may wish to paint your silicone mold before casting Alumilite. Paint the mold with a fast drying acrylic or clear coat. Once it is completely dry, cast your piece. When you demold the part you will pull out a painted piece. Alumilite will chemically bond to the dried paint. The other option is to paint the part as soon as it comes out of the mold while the resin is still curing to allow the curing resin to crosslink with the paint. RiverMan
Appreciate it guys. I did a search last night and came up with some good ideas, mostly to clean the resin really well, prime, paint, heat set. RM
