I Want To Start Pouring Bass Jigs?

Recommended Posts

The easiest  way to pour is with a bottom pour but a ladle is just as effective but there is a longer learning curve. The LEE precion pot holds 4 lbs of lead and you can get that, and a small ladle with spouts on each side for $40 and that will get you going. A Palmer Hot Pot 2 is an electric ladle that holds 4lbs of lead, it takes a bit to learn to pour a stream fast when holding that kind of weight and that is why I'd go with the precision pot and ladle instead of the hot pot 2.

I have been using the hot pot 2 for about 5 years now. It's a great pot for just starting out AND, it doesn't break the bank. Just make sure you're using clean lead.

Spray the spout area w/dropout,flux your lead and then enjoy pouring precise amounts of lead w/ a controlled flow rate. Monitor your lead temps. w/ that pot which will push it over 1000F- to a high of 1200F if left on as the amount of lead decreases in the small pot.
